San Francisco Launches Open311

While San Francisco reportedly has major management problems, a bit of municipal good news warmed my geeky cockles today.

You could be the first to report the next water pipe bust in Dolores Park

San Francisco has launched Open311 API that empowers all of San Francisco’s crafty software developers to build innovative Web sites and mobile apps incorporating city services. For example, you could be among the first to iPhonically upload photos of the next Dolores Park flood to Supervisor Bevan Dufty‘s office, assuming he hasn’t been replaced by Starchild.

We’re keen to add a Dolores Park service request tracker + map to Dolores Park Works’ web site, embedding the awesomeness of  ParkScan, SeeClickFix or an equivalent service. Would you like that, fair reader? Let me know in the comments.
