The Dolores Park Earth Day Celebration and picnic is on this Sunday, 4/22. We have arranged for a fabulous picnic from local merchants, Rosemary Cameron, board chair of San Francisco Parks Alliance will speak, we’re setting up an interactive waste reduction program for the kids, all starting with student volunteers.
Dolores Park Works Volunteers and students will meet at 9 am on the lawn, just north of the 19th street steps. This is our second Earth Day event. It was a lot of fun last year and is a great way to kick-off Spring. Students from the Bureau of Jewish Education, the Girls Club from Edison Charter Academy and our heroic Dolores Park gardeners will be there to show us how to take care of this irreplaceable resource.
Our special guest, Rosemary Cameron is from our partners and the city-wide advocacy and stewardship organization for San Francisco, the SF Parks Alliance. We are thrilled Rosemary will be here to meet you all. If you can’t come for the Volunteer Day, do stop by for lunch and introduce yourself. We will have a short program at about 11:45, picnic lunch at noon.
Paula Ginsburg, author of a hands on environmental project for K-6, One Simple Thing will bring a set of fun interactive waste reduction activities. Her mantra is Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and then Recycle.
